Learn about Angel Tree 2018

God has placed us in our city to be a lighthouse for Christ. To be most effective we must partner with other like-minded churches, agencies and ministries. We seek to earn the right to proclaim the gospel through building relationships, meeting needs and displaying love. We partner with several ministries throughout the Brandywine Valley in various ways including financial support, service opportunities, training and events. Prayerfully consider serving with one of our ministry partners.

Listed below are some of the local organizations with which we routinely partner. Click on the name of the organization to learn more about them through their websites.

Christmas Service Project: Winter Coat Drive Winter coat drive. Image shows coats in various colors.

BVBC is hosting a winter coat drive to benefit the Sunday Breakfast Mission. They have an urgent need for winter coats for men, women and children. The weather has already turned cold and there are many without sufficient outerwear for the winter.

Now through Sunday, December 16, BVBC is collecting new or gently used winter coats for men, women and children. Check your closets. What can you donate? New coats are also being accepted. Coats of all sizes are needed. Drop off your donations in the barrel in the Lobby of BVBC now through Sunday, December 16.

Christmas Service Project: Angel Tree

This year one of our Christmas service projects is Angel Tree, sponsored by Prison Fellowship. This ministry serves children who have a parent incarcerated during the holidays. You must register to participate in this program. You can participate in one of the following ways:

  • Purchase two gifts (one clothing and one toy) for the child you selected (due by December 2)
  • Bake cookies for the Angel Tree Party (due on December 9)
  • Volunteer at the Angel Tree Party on Saturday, December 15

Registration to purchase gifts or bake cookies has closed but you can still volunteer to help at the Angel tree Party.  The Angel Tree Christmas party will be held on Saturday, December 15, 12–2 p.m. at Hanover Presbyterian Church (1801 N. Jefferson Street, Wilmington). If you would like to be a helper at the party, call the church office at 302-478-4255 or sign up in the Lobby. Greeters, servers, and people to transport the gifts are all needed at the party.
