Brandywine Valley Bible Institute

BVBC and Support and Leadership Training (SALT) are partnering to offer the Brandywine Valley Bible Institute. The Institute seeks to equip believers for ministry and provide the opportunity to develop a stronger foundation in knowledge and understanding of God’s word. The goal of the Institute is to provide effective theological education for believers and lay leaders in the Brandywine Valley.

Over the course of three years, students can earn a Certificate in Bible and Ministry by completing twelve courses in three categories of classes; Bible, Theology, and Ministry Skills. Classes are also open for people to attend or audit individually if a certificate is not their goal. Classes meet on Tuesdays 6:30-9:00 p.m. for eight weeks.

Class Details

How to Understand and Apply the Bible. September 4 through October 23, 2018: This course is designed to acquaint students with basic principles and theory of biblical interpretation as well as serve as a guide for practicing inductive Bible study. The course will detail several specific techniques that will help students study and properly interpret God’s word. Assignments are geared around one Biblical book highlighting the importance of integration of various study methods as they relate to the process of interpreting a passage of Scripture.

The goal is that students will develop a greater appreciation of the Bible as the inspired Word of God and will develop proficiency in Bible study techniques enabling them to understand and apply the Bible to their life and ministry. This class is taught by Dr. David C. Hard.

Theology of Evangelism. This class has been postponed until 2019. Check back closer to that time for registration information. The ministry of evangelism and outreach is a critical component of the life of the church and its members. This course will examine the biblical basis for evangelistic ministry, the essential components of the evangelistic message, and will survey various modes and means of personal and group evangelism. The primary goal is to help the student to develop a personal understanding of evangelism.

Two core elements will interact with each other: theological foundations and application of those theological concepts in the current culture context. Class discussion and participation based on the readings will build on these core elements. This class is taught by Rev. Dr. Eduardo M. Ramirez.
