LOCATION: Brandywine Valley Baptist Church in Wilmington, Delaware, United States

PURPOSE: To be the lead flag carrier and implementer of “GO” through local outreach, partnership and mobilization of our congregation. To cultivate community, discipleship and multiplication through the ministry of small groups.

Personal:

  • Baptized follower of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord
  • Emphatically aligns with Brandywine Valley Baptist Church’s Statement of Faith and has a strong track record of local church membership, credibility and involvement
  • Worshipper with a proven track record of a vibrant, authentic and consistent personal walk with and worship of the Lord
  • Aligns with and supports the vision of Brandywine Valley Baptist Church
  • Model Christ-likeness and qualifications of biblical leadership of 1 Timothy 3:1-7
  • Passion for urban service, partnership and gospel proclamation
  • Exercises spiritual disciplines
  • Promotes an attitude providing for a collaborative, team-driven environment
  • Problem-solver, implementer and mobilizer
  • Comfortable interpersonal skills and cares about people
Professional:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in church/parachurch community outreach ministry
  • Education and/or experience in small groups
  • Education in biblical theology (B.S. or Masters Preferred)
  • Pastoral/Ministry experience (weddings, funerals, counseling, conflict resolution, preaching) or willing to learn
  • Proficient organizational skills
  • Able to train, empower and mobilize teams
  • Able to thrive in multi-cultural/ethnic contexts
  • Passion for evangelism and the articulation of the Gospel in urban contexts

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Church Mobilization: 60%
  • Maintain and develop partnerships for outreach and service to our community with a primary focus on the City of Wilmington
  • Maintain and develop One4Wilmington partnership through local outreach opportunities
  • Plan, recruit and execute church-wide community outreach events
  • Train congregation in spiritual gifts and service
  • Build clear, easy access and strategic pipelines for individuals/small groups to serve in the community
  • Oversee mobilization team volunteers
  • Celebrate “wins” by communicating with the congregation
Small Groups: 30%
  • Maintain and develop Small Group Ministry to align with our values and discipleship strategy
  • Work with Admin and volunteers to connect congregation to groups
  • Create and multiply groups as needed
  • Recruit and develop leaders for small group ministry through one-on-one and large group training
  • Help address and resolve conflicts as needed
General Ministry: 10%
  • Attend staff meetings and team building events
  • Manage Admin and volunteer team
  • Pastoral responsibilities such as teaching/preaching, pastoral care, visitation, funerals, weddings, baptisms, dedications as needed

Relationships

  • Reports to the Executive Pastor
  • Works closely with Lead Pastor and Ministry Leadership Team
  • Manages Community Outreach/Small Groups Administrative Assistant
  • Oversees leaders and volunteer teams
