Kerri Wodzinski (Director)

“God placed working with children on my heart when I was a young child. When I entered college, though I had other ideas in mind, God quickly directed my path towards education. I graduated from Juniata college with a dual certification in early childhood and elementary education.

I have taught in a variety of school settings through the years, most recently spending seven years as the kindergarten teacher at BVCP. I love being immersed with children in an environment which fosters both a love for learning about the world around them and Jesus’ love and faithfulness for us.

I have now been called onto the path of director of the preschool. It is a gift and blessing to have the privilege of being on the early learning journey with each child and family.

When I am not surrounding myself with all things Preschool, I can be found fostering my daughters’ love for horses and teaching riding lessons to children of all ages. I live in Chester County, PA, with my husband, 2 daughters, cats, dogs and horses.”

Marci McGee (Lead Teacher, Kindergarten)
“I am very excited to be part of BVCP! I graduated from the University of Delaware with a dual certification in early childhood education and special education and have taught for over 18 years with a brief rest due to the birth of my fourth child. I aspire to create a learning environment that is positive and creative; one in which all children feel welcomed and important. I plan hands-on learning activities that enrich our curriculum while being fun at the same time. Children in my classroom will gain independence and have a feeling of accomplishment while completing their work. When I’m not teaching, I love to spend time camping and making memories with my family.”

Susan Jones (Teacher’s Assistant, Kindergarten)
“I graduated from the University of Delaware with dual certification in elementary education and special education. I have over 25 years experience teaching children in a variety of settings. I have taught elementary-age children as well as preschoolers and have held both long and short-term substitute teaching positions. When I’m not in the classroom, you can find me on a bike or a hike.”

Amy Hickey (Lead Teacher, 5-day Pre-K Class)
“I graduated from the University of Maryland with a Masters in Social Work in 2000. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to stay home with my children once my husband and I started our family. As my children began to grow older and graduate from Brandywine Valley Christian Preschool and Kindergarten, I couldn’t bear the thought of leaving the school. I was fortunate enough to be hired in the 2-year-old classroom initially. After working with the little lambs for two years, I was blessed with our fourth child and took two years off from teaching to spend time with her. I am blessed to be currently working with the Pre-K kids. I have an Early Childcare Education Certificate from Delaware Technical College. When I am not at BVCP, I am volunteering at my children’s school, running kids to practices and lessons or doing laundry.”

Marci Norat (Teacher’s Assistant, Pre-K/Kindergarten Art Teacher)
“This is my 18th year as a teacher’s assistant. I also have the pleasure of teaching Art to the kindergarten and pre-kindergarten classes, as well as to children at the YMCA. While volunteering for Awana with the Cubbies, three and four year olds, I fell in love with this age group.”

Patricia Whitaker (Lead Teacher, Three’s Class)
“I graduated from the University of Delaware with degrees in English Literature and Sociology. After graduating I worked as a School Social Worker. I was fortunate to be able to stay home when I had my first son. I taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and loved working with the younger children. When my youngest was ready for school I decided to get my Early Childhood Education Certificate from Delaware Technical Community College. It is a privilege to watch the children explore and learn about God. When I am not teaching, I am spending time with my family or training for a 5K with the Special Olympics.”

“I am blessed to be joining the three’s class this year as a teaching assistant. I have had the pleasure of working with preschool aged children both in prior assistant roles as well as in youth ministry at my church. I truly believe that children are a gift from God and am elated to watch them grow both physically and spiritually in their faith.”

Lisa Baker (Lead Teacher, 3-day Three’s Class)

Additionally, I have had the privilege of leading children’s ministry, serving as a Sunday School teacher, serving in MOPS leadership, and am currently serving in youth ministry. I take great joy in facilitating and watching children grow. With my husband, I am blessed to be a proud parent of three wonderful children! The joy of watching them grow and mature is immeasurable, and to have the opportunity to briefly witness and participate in that process with your children is truly a blessing. During my down time, I enjoy spending time with my family, relaxing at the beach and pool, listening to contemporary Christian music (and going to concerts), as well as spending time in fellowship with my small group.”

“I feel called to be here at BVCP helping the children grow in all areas of development. I enjoy getting to know each child and appreciate their unique differences and their love of learning. I enjoy teaching them about God’s love through Bible stories, songs, and books. I desire their preschool experience to be positive and fun and I hope to instill a love of learning that will last a lifetime. I am married with two adventurous boys. When I’m not in the classroom, you can find me spending time with my family, volunteering for various church activities and fostering dogs.”

Maria Gonzalez (Lead Teacher, Three’s Class)
“Being involved in the process of helping children grow, develop and learn is a privilege. My only daughter attended BVCP until she reached elementary school. I have much affection and admiration for the wonderful people at BVCP who helped teach, love and pray over her during these formative years and am very proud to be a part of their staff. I am a graduate of New York University with a BA in Theater Arts. I obtained a teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education from Delaware Technical College in 2015. Julianne Cruser (Lead Teacher, Two’s Class)
“I’m blessed to be able to return to Brandywine Valley Christian Preschool for my sixth year. As a child I wanted to be a mother and a teacher. I was raised in Lancaster County and moved to North Wilmington as an adult where I have had the opportunity to be a stay at home mom. Although a country girl at heart, I love my little piece of North Wilmington and all the convenience it provides such as the opportunity to teach three year olds. I love to interact with children and engage them at their level. I enjoy teaching, encouraging, and watching children grow into all that God has created them to be. Outside of the classroom you can find me cheering my three boys on at the baseball field and doing arts & crafts with my daughter. I also enjoy decorating and designing along side my husband.”

Erin Davis (Teacher’s Assistant, Two’s class)
“I experience joy in working with young children. It is a privilege to encourage and guide their natural desires to learn and grow in the knowledge of themselves and God’s world. Outside of preschool, I enjoy spending time with husband and my two kids. We especially love all things Phillies!”

Heidi Friedkin (Gym Teacher)
“I graduated from University of Delaware with a Physical Education and Health Degree.  I taught Driver Education for 5 years at Padua Academy, while coaching field hockey and gymnastics.  I stayed home for a few years to raise my 4 children, but even then was always working with kids somewhere; Sunday School, VBS, gymnastics classes and volunteering on the Children’s Ministry team at BVBC with the most awesome women and mentors.  When my kids were all in school I came to BVCP and have been teaching gym and an after school gymnastics program since 2005 and have loved every minute.  I love spending time with my husband and family, spending time with the BVBC youth, doing anything outdoors and especially love being at Phillies games.  My very favorite thing is being a Nana!”
