Meet the Teachers

Kerri Wodzinski: Director and Lead Teacher, Three's Class

God placed working with children on my heart when I was a young child. When I entered college, though I had other ideas in mind, God quickly directed my path towards education. I graduated from Juniata college with a dual certification in early childhood and elementary education.

I have taught in a variety of school settings through the years, most recently spending seven years as the kindergarten teacher at BVCP. I love being immersed with children in an environment which fosters both a love for learning about the world around them and Jesus’ love and faithfulness for us.

I have now been called onto the path of director of the preschool. It is a gift and blessing to have the privilege of being on the early learning journey with each child and family.

When I am not surrounding myself with all things Preschool, I can be found fostering my daughters’ love for horses and teaching riding lessons to children of all ages. I live in Chester County, PA, with my husband, two daughters, cats, dogs and horses.

Amy Hickey: Lead Teacher, Kindergarten

I graduated from the University of Maryland with a Masters in Social Work in 2000. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to stay home with my children once my husband and I started our family. As my children began to grow older and graduate from Brandywine Valley Christian Preschool and Kindergarten, I couldn’t bear the thought of leaving the school. I was fortunate enough to be hired in the 2-year-old classroom initially. After working with the little lambs for two years, I was blessed with our fourth child and took two years off from teaching to spend time with her. I have an Early Childcare Education Certificate from Delaware Technical College. When I am not at BVCP, I am volunteering at my children’s school, running kids to practices and lessons or doing laundry.

Tricia Whitaker: Assistant Teacher, Kindergarten

Biography coming soon.

Quincy Tilson: Lead Teacher, Pre-K Class

I graduated from Western Governors University with a Masters in Learning and Technology in 2022, and my Bachelor’s in Special Education in 2020. Previously, I worked predominantly in the Special Education realm of public education through the Delaware Charter Schools with the K-8 grades in Autism Support Settings and small group settings. I also had the opportunity to work in the Montessori setting for Upper Elementary. I was fortunate enough to join the BVCP family in the Pre-Kindergarten classroom for the 2023-24 school year. God blessed my husband and I with three beautiful children ages 6, 4, and 2. When I am not at BVCP, I am volunteering at my children’s school, carpooling/supporting my kids in all their activities or providing special education tutoring. You may also see me here at Brandywine Valley Church on Sundays attending service or volunteering in the children’s classrooms.

Charleen Davis: Assistant Teacher, Pre-K Class

I recently started working at BVCP and the feeling of belonging was instant. I have worked as a teacher for the last 25 years. My most recent experience, prior to joining BVCP, was working with infants, but I have worked with all ages in the Early Childhood developmental range and school age children.

I am a mom of two beautiful girls, and two fur babies: Oscar and Olivia the ferrets, who bring me the most joy. I’ve been married for 12 years. As a family we love to bowl and craft together. Our girls keep us busy with all their school and sporting events, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I enjoy coming to work everyday. The children really do make every day special!

Julianne Cruser: Lead Teacher, Three’s Class

I’m blessed to be able to return to Brandywine Valley Christian Preschool for another year. As a child I wanted to be a mother and a teacher. I was raised in Lancaster County and moved to North Wilmington as an adult where I have had the opportunity to be a stay at home mom. Although a country girl at heart, I love my little piece of North Wilmington and all the convenience it provides such as the opportunity to teach preschool age children. I love to interact with children and engage them at their level. I enjoy teaching, encouraging, and watching children grow into all that God has created them to be. Outside of the classroom you can find me cheering my three boys on at the baseball field and doing arts & crafts with my daughter. I also enjoy decorating and designing along side my husband.

Tina Fernandes: Assistant Teacher, Three's Class

photo is tina fernandes.I first began working at Brandywine Valley Christian Preschool (BVCP) in 2014 and am blessed to continue working in such a family-oriented workspace. As a stay-at-home mom, I was looking for a preschool for my daughter. I learned about BVCP and enrolled her. When she started Pre-K, I applied as a substitute. After working as a substitute, I began working as an assistant in the 2’s class for two years. I then moved onto the 3’s class and finally Pre-K. The following year, I was gifted with my second daughter and took a break for two years. I am back now with the 3’s and am so thankful for it. I love working with kids and am so grateful for the opportunity to see them grow and learn in their beginning years. I enjoy taking bike rides with my 12 year old and playing dress up with my little one. I also love reading in my spare time.

Toni Miller: Assistant Teacher, Three's Class

I am excited to be a part of the Brandywine Valley Christian Preschool family. I was born and raised in New Jersey and attended Georgian Court University and The Savannah College of Art and Design where I acquired a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree. After 13 years in Georgia, my husband and I relocated to Delaware to be closer to family. I was first introduced to Brandywine Valley Church through my sister and from attending MOPS. After being able to spend two years at home with my girls, I was given the opportunity to work at BVCP.

My background includes being a Lead Teacher at The Goddard School, The Primrose School, nannying, teaching Sunday School, lifeguarding and being a 911 Operator. I love teaching my daughters and other little ones about God’s love and seeing them get excited about God through Bible stories, songs, reading and dancing. When I’m not teaching, I love spending time with my family, listening to music, and being outdoors.

Meri Wheeler: Lead Teacher, Two's Class / Kindergarten Art Teacher

I feel called to be here at BVCP helping the children grow in all areas of development. I enjoy getting to know each child and appreciate their unique differences and their love of learning. I enjoy teaching them about God’s love through Bible stories, songs, and books. I desire their preschool experience to be positive and fun and I hope to instill a love of learning that will last a lifetime. I am married with two adventurous boys. When I’m not in the classroom, you can find me spending time with my family, volunteering for various church activities and fostering dogs.

Amelia SanFlippo: Co-Teacher, Two's Class

I am blessed to be able to join the BVCP family this year. I will be graduating in May from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor’s in Cognitive Science on the Pre-Professional Speech Language Pathology track. In addition I have over three years of experience in Early Childhood Education, as well as being a nanny. I plan to go on to get my Masters to become a Speech Pathologist. When not overworking myself with my various jobs and studying, I love to read, spend time with my friends and dance and sing whenever possible, the children in my classroom can attest to that!

Jemy Vijayan: Co-Teacher, Two’s Class

I was first introduced to BVCP when my second daughter attended school here and I loved it. My daughter was safe, loved and she thrived here. I’ve always been a stay-at-home mom and I desired a job where I could be home when my children were home and this was it! I loved our school as a parent first and I love it even more as a teacher. In addition to being an early childhood teacher, I was a Materials Science Engineer with a Master’s degree in Management. Before I had children, I worked in IT and at a publishing company. I have also taught piano and art part time. I volunteer at Sunday school, church nursery and an orphanage. My husband and I are blessed by our Lord Jesus with three precious children. When I’m not in the classroom, you’ll find me spending time with my family, running and reading. I enjoy painting and playing the piano.

In my free time I enjoy taking walks, traveling with my family and co-leading a Bible study with my husband. We are a blended family blessed with five children.

Heidi Friedkin: Gym Teacher

I graduated from University of Delaware with a Physical Education and Health Degree.  I taught Driver Education for 5 years at Padua Academy, while coaching field hockey and gymnastics.  I stayed home for a few years to raise my four children, but even then was always working with kids somewhere; Sunday School, VBS, gymnastics classes and volunteering on the Children’s Ministry team at Brandywine Valley Church with the most awesome women and mentors.  When my kids were all in school I came to BVCP and have been teaching gym and an after school gymnastics program since 2005 and have loved every minute.  I love spending time with my husband and family, spending time with the Brandywine Valley Church youth, doing anything outdoors and especially love being at Phillies games.  My very favorite thing is being a Nana!

Phyllis Munch: Librarian

A native of Delaware, I have over 30 years of teaching experience. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Primary/Kindergarten Education from the University of Delaware. I have taught 2nd grade, preschool gym classes, Pre-Kindergarten classes, Kindergarten classes and have also been a preschool director. My husband and I have two grown sons and six grandsons. It is also my hope to show the children how much God loves them and plant seeds for a lifelong faith in Jesus Christ. As librarian I get to indulge my love of books and help the teachers expose our children to a wide variety of reading experiences. Children who are read to do much better in school & life.
