Love Vs. Status

The context for the sermon text, 1 Corinthians 13:1-3, is relationships in the church. The apostle Paul reminds believers that rather than measuring spiritual status on the prominence of spiritual gifts (speech, knowledge, power and service), the greatest indicator of spiritual growth and maturity is love.

From Series: "Love Vs."

This sermon series is based on 1 Corinthians 13:1-13. Love Vs. is a play on words, a reference to these biblical verses and a reference to the battle we face against the enemies of love. Topics for this eight-week series are: Love Versus status, hostility, envy, pride, stubbornness, resentment, corruption and abandonment. It is ultimately through our love that the world will know that we belong to Christ.

Love vs Abondonment

In the last sermon in the "Love vs" series Pastor Nate discusses 5 Ways to Be an All-in Father. The last section of 1 Corinthians 13 can be called “All-in” love. Paul talks about love in extremes to emphasize the unconditional aspect of love. This is why the message is titled Love Vs. Abandonment. God’s love is unconditional, unrelenting and permanent…counter-cultural to the distorted version we see in our world today which is quick to abandon, give up, find an exit.
