Friendship with God: Barriers and Bridges

People and institutions (including the Church) have so often fallen so short of expectations that a kind of sullen disillusionment makes its way just beneath the surface of national life. God calls the church to rise above the disillusionment. Christ laid the foundation for that. He reconciled us to God when we were God’s enemies. The Church is the community of faith that has been restored to friendship with God. Friendship with God has to be tended to, or it falters.
