Our mission at Brandywine Valley Baptist Church is to introduce people to Jesus Christ, and help them follow Him.

Followers of Christ seek to KNOW Him, GROW in Him, and GO into the world with Him. The church helps them through public worship, classes, small groups, and opportunities to serve.

Learn about how we are making a missional impact on our community:

Our Core Values are the underlying convictions of BVBC that create an unwavering guide for decisions, direction and the fulfillment of our mission.

Our leadership aspires to carry out ministry individually and corporately according to our Core Values. Our Core Values are:

  • Bible-Centered, Generously Orthodox
God’s Word is our guide, authority and conscience in everything. We stand firm where it stands firm and remain flexible where it remains flexible. We value a diversity of opinions and thought on secondary theological matters. 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 1 Corinthians 13
  • Meaningful Membership & Community
God designed us to live in community not isolation and our desire is for everyone to be connected in a caring, biblical community. We are committed to biblical stewardship of our time, talents and treasures both individually and corporately. We will strive for “100% spiritual employment because the church matures as each member does its part. Hebrews 10:24-25; Ephesians 4:1-16
  • Unity in Diversity
Unity was made possible and commanded through Christ. Therefore, we will seek to make our church accessible and impacting for all generations, cultures, colors and faith backgrounds. Ephesians 2:11-22; Revelation 7:9-10
  • The Pursuit of Excellence, Relevance & Innovation
God deserves our best and so do people. We will strive to do ministry in a culturally relevant way to the best of our ability. This includes worship, teaching, programs, communication, facilities and outreach. 1 Corinthians 9:19-27
  • Thriving Families
Marriage is God’s first institution. Families are an essential part to healthy society and church. Therefore, we are committed to helping families thrive according to God’s design for the household. We believe marriage and family is a key way we can love and reach our community for Christ. Genesis 1:27-28; Ephesians 5:21-33
  • Authenticity and Restoration
Jesus came to free humanity from the bondage of sin and brokenness begun at the fall. Jesus makes us whole again through the gospel. We must be a safe place where people can take off their masks. We see brokenness all around our community, therefore, we are committed to offering freedom and restoration to the addicted, hurting and hiding. John 8:12; Ephesians 4:17-24
  • Discipleship Driven
We are fully committed to making disciples of all ages according to the great commission: introducing people to Jesus and helping them follow Him. Every ministry at BVBC must be committed to the discipleship pathway of Know, Grow, Go. Matthew 28:18-20
  • Gospel Partnerships for our City & World
The gospel of Jesus is humanity’s only hope both now and forever. God has placed us in our city to be a lighthouse for Christ and a sender to all nations. To be most effective we must partner with other like-minded churches, agencies and ministries. Therefore, we will seek to earn the right through love, service and effective ministry partnership to proclaim the truth. Romans 1:16; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 9:19-27

Our Statement of Faith

God…God our Creator, Judge and Redeemer is Lord and He is Love. Because He is Lord, He tolerates no rivals. Because He is Love, He seeks not to coerce but to win our worship. In the unity of God are three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are equal in every Divine perfection, but they execute distinct yet harmonious offices in the work of redemption.
Exodus 20:2-31 John 4:8Matthew 28:19-20Mark 1:9-11

Jesus Christ…Jesus Christ is the Virgin-born God-Man. He is undiminished Deity and perfect Humanity. He bore the sins of mankind in the shedding of His blood. He rose from death. He ascended bodily into heaven. He will return bodily to earth.
Colossians 2:9-10; 1 Peter 2:24Mark 16:6Acts 1:9-11

The Holy Spirit…The Holy Spirit is God. He glorifies Christ. He dwells in each Christian and so gives unity to the Church. He gives to the justified those graces and gifts necessary for their sanctification. And He carries out God’s purposes for both Church and world. Acts 5:1-81 Corinthians 12:4,7,12-13John 16:7-15Galatians 5:22-23Isaiah 45:1

The Church…The Church is the one Body of Christ which consists of all whom God has justified. The Church on earth gathers in local congregations for purposes of worship, teaching, and fellowship; it disperses into the world to evangelize and to do good to all. The Church practices the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper according to the Lord’s commands.
1 Corinthians 12:12-13Hebrews 10:25Acts 2:42Matthew 28:20Galatians 6:101 Corinthians 11:23-26

Man…God created Man as male and female. He created both in His image. Adam sinned and brought upon himself and his posterity guilt, death, and condemnation.
Genesis 1:26-28Romans 5:12,16

The Bible…God moved the writers of the Old and New Testaments in such a way that all they wrote expresses without error God’s thought. The Bible is the final authority for faith and living.
2 Timothy 3:16-17

Justification…Justification is an act of God. In this act He pardons eternally the guilt of all who have faith in Christ as Savior. Faith in Christ as Savior means to believe that Christ bore my sins and rose from the dead.
Romans 3:22-26Ephesians 2:8-9

Sanctification…Sanctification is a process by which God restores His image in those whom He has justified. In this process God is at work in us both to will and to work His good pleasure, and at the same time we Christians are working out our own salvation. This process will continue until God restores His image in us.
Philippians 2:12-13Colossians 3:10

The World to Come…Jesus Christ will return to earth. There will be a resurrection to life for those whom God has justified, and there will be a resurrection to judgment for those whom God has not justified. Those who rise to judgment will be sentenced to eternal hell. Those who rise to life will enter the eternal presence of God as the perfected sons of God.
Acts 1:9-11John 5:28-29Revelation 20:151 John 3:2
