LOCATION: Brandywine Valley Baptist Church in Wilmington, Delaware, United States

HOURS: Full-Time 40 hours/week

PURPOSE: This position is a 1-2 year role designed to invest in a young leader to be a future worship leader in the church. Our future leader intern will receive real ministry experience and training under the direction of our Worship & Music director and leadership team. He/ She will serve in musical/worship leadership from the platform, assist in designing and preparing teams for worship services, and become well-rounded in their understanding of the ins and outs of what goes into worship service production (theology, musical prep, AVL systems, collaborative team work). Future leader will serve part-time (20 hours) worship ministry and part-time (20 hours) cross-ministry area of interest.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a minimum of two years of successful work/ministry experience in platform worship leadership
  • Strong vocal gifts
  • Comfort and proficiency in a variety of musical styles
  • Ability to confidently lead from an instrument (preferably guitar or piano)
  • Ability to play multiple instruments a plus
  • Knowledge of technical systems (AVL) a plus


  • Works with the Worship & Music Director to design worship services
  • Serves as worship leader or as instrumentalist 3 out of 4 Sundays
  • Directs 1-2 rehearsals per month
  • Works with Tech Director to learn AVL systems
  • Serves as AVL support 1 out of 4 Sundays
  • Participates in staff devotions and planning meetings
  • Worship & Music leadership training with Worship & Music Director
  • Develops and serves in cross-ministry area of interest


  • Reports to the Worship & Music Director
  • Develops relationships with MLT, facilities staff, musicians, and tech teams


  • 1 year (with potential 2nd year), starting September 2021
  • Housing provided, free YMCA membership (located next door to church)
  • 40 hours, $20,000 stipend
  • Worship & Music ministry – up to 20 hours, including but not limited to: rehearsals, meetings, training, office hours, Sunday mornings
  • Cross-ministry area of interest – up to 20 hours (work with leadership to design)
