Esther: The Divine Appointment

Esther: The Divine Behind the Scenes

We see in Esther chapters 1-2 that God is providentially working behind the scenes during a time when God's people are seemingly irrelevant in the culture. Esther and Mordecai, Jewish exiles, find themselves in positions of influence in the Persian kingdom. In his sovereign rescue plan, God will use Esther to intervene on behalf of the Jewish people to save them from annihilation.

From Series: "Esther: The Divine Behind the Scenes"

In this four-week sermon series in the Old Testament book of Esther, we will explore the providence of God. In this book God is so behind the scenes that he isn’t even named! God hides himself in the background to teach us about his providence in our everyday lives so that we learn to see God’s fingerprints working behind the scenes through the good, the bad and the ugly.

From Series: "Romans Part 4: God’s Providence"

In Romans Part 4: God’s Providence, Paul answers the question raised from Romans 8:30: If God’s call of someone to salvation ultimately brings them to glory, what do we make of God’s chosen people, Israel, and their unbelief? Paul explores God’s mysterious sovereignty in choosing Israel, the inclusion of the Gentiles, our role in reaching Jews and Gentiles, and God’s ultimate plan for Israel. Not only does Romans 9-11 tell us about the history of the Jewish people but it gives us insight into how God works behind the scenes to bring His providential plans to fruition. We can trust Him, even in what we don’t understand.
