Communications Director
LOCATION: Brandywine Valley Church in Wilmington, Delaware, United States
POSITION SUMMARY: The Communications Director develops and leads the strategic engagement and communication plan for Brandywine Valley Church. In this position, the Communications Director is responsible for ensuring that the church’s message is communicated clearly and consistently, in alignment with church values, across all online and offline platforms. This role ensures that the church’s message is communicated clearly, consistently, and creatively across all platforms—digital, print, and physical spaces. The Communications Director is responsible for branding, graphic design, storytelling, and managing internal and external communication.

Professional:
- Familiarity with church ministry culture and communications best practices.
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in communications, graphic design, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience for a minimum of 3 years.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), project management systems, and website content management systems.
- Experience in brand development, digital communication, creative project execution, and budget management.
- Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Communications Strategy & Oversight
- Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communication strategy to support the vision, ministries, and events of Brandywine Valley Church.
- Ensure consistent brand messaging across all channels including, but not limited to web, social media, email, print, and signage.
- Collaborate with pastors and ministry leaders to prioritize and schedule communications based on church-wide goals.
- Managing the Communications Budget: Manage and track approved budget.
2. Graphic & Creative Design
- Create high-quality graphics for sermon series, events, social media, print materials, and in-service slides.
- Manage the visual brand identity of the church, including logos, templates, and style guides.
- Design promotional materials (flyers, banners, brochures, signage) and oversee production and distribution.
3. Digital & Social Media Management
- Maintain and update the church website with accurate, engaging content.
- Manage social media accounts, creating posts and campaigns that connect with and inform the congregation and community.
- Produce weekly digital communication (email newsletter, video updates, event highlights).
4. Environment & Building Decor
- Oversee the creative direction and installation of building décor, signage, and lobby experiences that align with current sermon series, seasonal events, and ministry themes.
- Collaborate with facilities and ministry teams to ensure physical environments reflect the church’s brand and hospitality values.
- Manage decor budget and coordinate volunteer teams or vendors as needed for setup and maintenance.
5. Project Management & Team Leadership
- Develop creative briefs, workflows, timelines and associated budgets to manage concurrent projects.
- Recruit and lead volunteer creatives (designers, photographers, decorators) and coordinate with contractors as needed.
- Manage communication-related vendors (printers, web developers, signage providers, etc.).
RELATIONSHIPS:
- Reports to the Lead Pastor
- Works closely with the Ministry Leadership Team
- Develops personal relationships with vendors and works closely with Operations Manager, Worship Arts Pastor and Technical Director
