Current Sermon

Matthew McNutt - November 17, 2019

God's Righteousness

This sermon is based on Roman 3:1-8. Prior to this passage, the apostle Paul has addressed Jewish Christians who insisted that Gentile Christians needed to follow Old Testament practices. Paul asks and answers the questions that he knows the Jewish believers have in mind regarding the purpose of the law, sin and judgment. Ultimately the Old Testament law reveals mankind's sin and God's holiness. In this scripture passage, Paul affirms three truths. First, God's words are a gift. Second, God is reliable. Third, rationalizing sin is a trap.

From Series: "Romans Part 1: The Problem"

In the book of Romans, the Apostle Paul pulls together the entire narrative of Scripture and human history to show God's plan for salvation through Jesus. Over the next year we are going to study this letter to the Romans in five parts: Our Problem, God's Provision, Our Power, Our Predicament and Our Practice. In Part 1, we will discover that all of humanity stands guilty before a holy God, and that no amount of work can earn God's righteousness. However, there is good news in the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ.
