The Dual Citizens of 1 Peter

This sermon provides the introduction, background and context of 1 Peter. We learn that this book was likely written by the apostle Peter who was addressing Christians scattered abroad who were about to face a time of intense persecution and suffering. Who are these citizens of both heaven and earth, and what does this tell us about the identity of modern-day Christians?

From Series: "Dual Citizens: 1 Peter"

This sermon series in 1 Peter will encourage, instruct and challenge Christians to live as citizens of the kingdom of heaven while remaining as citizens of the kingdom of man. The scriptures will speak to questions such as: Who are we? How much should we be like or unlike the world? How do we respond when we experience suffering?

Embracing Suffering in the Trenches

Missions Month concludes with Pastor Terry Foester sharing "Embracing Suffering in the Trenches" from 1 Peter 4:12-19. Faith in the trenches comes with suffering for our faith. Peter teaches us that our lives must radiate resilience so that we will experience the joy of our salvation.

From Series: "In the Trenches"

American Christians have enjoyed a long era without persecution for our faith. While those times may be coming to an end, the good news is that when we learn to embrace our faith in the trenches, we can become effective witnesses of Christ while maturing in our faith. In our study in 1 Peter we will learn how to move forward by looking back to how the early church embraced ministry in the trenches.
