Advent and Christmas 2024
Create Family Memories! Be our guest this Christmas season at Brandywine Valley Church!
Sunday mornings in December, our Advent sermon series is the “Advent: Long Foretold.” All the Hebrew prophets prophesied the coming of the Messiah. Christians believe the Messiah they prophesied was born on that first Christmas, Jesus Christ the Savior of the world. This series will be looking at four prophets that each present a unique aspect of what the Messiah would be like and his role in our lives.
Below are details about some of the special music concerts and services. Don’t miss the family photo opportunity!
December special events
Kids’ Christmas Musical
WHEN: Saturday, December 14, 5:00pm
Kids’ Christmas Choir will perform the musical, All About That Baby. The musical takes place in Bethlehem in the days leading up to Jesus’ birth. All of the regular characters are there – the shepherds, the angels, Mary and Joseph – but the humans are oblivious that the sheep can talk and rap! Once the angels make their announcement of the Messiah’s birth, then the sheep quickly lead everyone to the Nativity.
We get to peek into different perspectives on the coming of Christ. The songs tell of the feelings they had while they were waiting for the Messiah to come.
Our Kids’ Choir (grades 1-8) has been practicing for this musical since September! Bring the whole family to this family-friendly, free concert. For those who can’t make it in person, the musical will be livestreamed on our website and YouTube.
A Thrill of Hope
A Christmas Concert by the Grantham Consort
WHEN: Sunday, December 22, 6:30pm
A family-friendly, worshipful Christmas concert featuring carols, organ and strings. Audience carol singing, scripture readings and classic Christmas carols set in old and new ways will draw audiences in to the hope and joy of the Christmas season.
The Grantham Consort is a professional chamber choir composed of Christian musicians from the tristate area. Founded in 2021 by co-artistic directors Andrew and Joy Meade, the choir seeks to provide excellent classical, Christ-centered concert experiences to church communities. Each musician in the Grantham Consort is both a singer and instrumentalist, thus providing rich, diverse dimension to each concert. A Thrill of Hope is particularly special because of its intergenerational nature, as many children of the Grantham Consort members will play and sing.
Admission is free. Invite your family and friends to experience this special evening!
