Annual Food Drive

The 2023 annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, benefiting the Sunday Breakfast Mission, is October 22-November 5. Their goal is to distribute 2,000 food boxes to struggling families in Wilmington. There are two ways you can help:

  1. Volunteer at the Sunday Breakfast Mission to pack food boxes, distributed food boxes or serve Thanksgiving dinner
  2. Donate non-perishable food

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES:

There are also opportunities to serve at the Sunday Breakfast Mission to support of this project. All service opportunities occur at the Sunday Breakfast Mission at 110 Poplar St, Wilmington, DE. Please note, most opportunities require volunteers to be on their feet for the duration of the volunteer time.

This is a great family service project, especially for families with older children who will be off of school during Thanksgiving week. High school students can earn service hours for volunteering.

Ways To Serve:

  • Monday, November 13, 9am-12pm – Pack food boxes
  • Thursday, November 16, 5:30-8pm – Training for Gospel sharing (required for those performing this function)
  • Monday, November 20, 8am-12pm or 12-4pm – Food box distribution
  • Monday, November 20, 8am-12pm or 12-4pm – Gospel sharing and praying
  • Tuesday, November 21, 8am-12pm or 12-4pm – Food box distribution
  • Tuesday, November 21, 8am-12pm or 12-4pm – Gospel sharing and praying
  • Thursday, November 23, 10-11am – Setup Thanksgiving banquet (positions filled)
  • Thursday, November 23 , 10:45am-2:30pm – Serve Thanksgiving banquet
  • Thursday, November 23, 2:30-5pm – Cleanup Thanksgiving banquet

FOOD COLLECTION:

There are three ways you can contribute to the food drive:

  • Drop off food in the church Lobby from Sunday, October 22 through Sunday, November 5.
  • Purchase food online and ship directly to the Sunday Breakfast Mission at 110 N Poplar Street, Wilmington, DE 19801 Attn: Food Drive.
  • In addition to Amazon deliveries, at least two other food stores in Wilmington offer online ordering and delivery to the 19801 zip code: ShopRite of Christiana Crossings (501 South Walnut Street, 19801) and ALDI (2205 Farrand Drive, 19808). Check your favorite store to see if they deliver to 19801.
